In this state of unity ie with the universe / Divine, we will have learnt all there is to know because we will have become “universal intelligence”, the consciousness that forms the building blocks of all that exist.

Energy medicine isn’t simply a different “pill” or approach, it is part of an opening of our awareness as to what is “real”, what is “existence”, and “who are we”? With this we awaken our understanding and appreciation of the fundamental laws of the universe and all that “is” including that “everything happens for a reason”! Everything contains a message, should we allow our intuition and subconscious play the lead roles that they should in our lives. Seek and you will find! Seek and you will heal!

What is grounding?

Grounding or earthing is nothing more than placing one’s bare feet on the ground whether it be earth, grass, sand, or concrete (in all cases it is particularly beneficial if the surface is wet / humid). The key is the fact that the earth is electron-enriched and this “interchange” with our bodies results in an improved balance of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system occurs, improved blood viscosity, heart rate calming, reduced inflammation, and impacts on cortisol dynamics, sleep, autonomic nervous system (ANS) balance thus reducing the effects of stress. Furthermore grounding also decreases the effect of potentially disruptive electromagnetic fields.

What happens when you ground?

 It really is all about our immune systems. Our immune system functions optimally when your body has an adequate supply of electrons, which are easily and naturally obtained by barefoot contact with the Earth.

The problem is that in our modern society we may often go days, weeks, months or even years without touching the ground with our bare feet and even though it may have been quite a few generations back when our ancestors genuinely walked barefoot, traditionally shoes were made of leather, which actually conducts electrons and therefore maintains a conductive contact between the Earth and your feet. Now days however are shoes, or at least soles, are made from rubber and plastics that are electrical insulators and therefore block the beneficial flow of electrons from the Earth to your body. And don’t forget that the houses / spaces we live in have also radically changed and it is only relatively recently that substances such as asphalt, wood, rugs, and plastics have separated us from this contact

 What are the benefits of grounding?

 Recent research indicates that electrons from the Earth have a very strong antioxidant effect that can protect our bodies from inflammation (this is another story in it’s own right with other recent research beginning to highlight that the bodies inflammation response may be one of the most important underlying causes of disease in today’s world. See notes below)

It has long been known that the Earth maintains a negative electrical potential on its surface. However what is a newer discovery is that when you are in direct contact with the ground (walking, sitting, or laying down on the earth’s surface) the earth’s electrons are conducted to your body, bringing it to the same electrical potential as the earth which in turn induces favourable physiological and ectrophysiological changes that promote optimum health.

Furthermore earthing / grounding appears to minimize the consequences of exposure to potentially disruptive fields like “electromagnetic pollution” or “dirty electricity.”

Some of the other benefits of this earth contact and “electron transfer” are improvement in blood viscosity, calming of heart rate variability, improved cortisol dynamics, better sleep, autonomic nervous system (ANS) balance, and reduced effects of stress.

 What “conditions” might benefit from grounding?

 Since one of the key benefits of grounding is reduced inflammation, and the latter sits behind almost all chronic diseases, then the short answer would be “almost everything”! Specifically we can include the following to name just a few: chronic fatigue syndrome; arthritis; blood pressure control; depression; Alzheimer’s; blood thinning needs.

 Basically when you provide your body a constant source of free electrons, through diet or grounding you help to radically reduce inflammation which as stated above is now widely acknowledged as one of the primary factors contributing to premature aging and chronic disease.

How should I ground?

Clearly, the simplest way to ground is to walk barefoot outside when safe to do so. But what about the many of us that live in urban areas / cities surrounded by asphalt and concrete? Can you ground on those?  And what about natural surfaces—which ones are the most effective? .

The ideal location for walking barefoot is the beach, close to or in the water, as sea water is a great conductor. As your body is also mostly water, it creates a good connection.

A close second would be a grassy area, especially if it’s covered with dew, which is what you’d find if you walk early in the morning. The good news is that concrete is also a good conductor as long as it hasn’t been sealed or painted On the other hand. Materials like asphalt, wood, and typical insulators like plastic or the soles of your shoes, will not allow electrons to pass through and are not suitable for barefoot grounding.

How long should I ground for?

As long as possible but the good news is that many of the physiological changes are rapid and often occur within 30 minutes. As with everything it is about finding time in your daily routine to do this. The more the better but you choose!!

For some unknown reason a great majority of us have suffered, from very early in life, with something which has been termed “Core Distortion”. Core Distortion creates imbalances and weaknesses throughout our musculoskeletal system leading to a variety of problems around the body, not least many versions of “back pain” (while each individual case of back pain may have very specific causes, if we can address a core postural issue, involving the hips, spine and cranium, then we have a firm foundation upon which to drill down and address other underlying “issues”)

So what is Core Distortion? Very simply it is an imbalance or “twist” in the sphenoid / occipital bones of the skull which in turn lead to a twisting of the pelvis. Here are just a few of the problems that can result and that in turn can respond well to balancing this Core Distortion pattern:

  • Back pain
  • sciatic pain
  • Hip pain
  • Knee pain
  • Herniated & bulging discs
  • Nerve entrapments
  • Spinal misalignment
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • carpal tunnel
  • Scoliosis
  • Tennis elbow etc etc

If you like a bit of anatomy, the sphenoid bone sits behind the nose and eye sockets and reflects the balance or imbalance of the pelvis. It touches all all the other bones of the cranium including the occiput bone which sits at the lower rear part of the skull. This bone supports the whole head and rests on top of the spine. The sphenoid and occiput can rotate and move relative to each other via the sphenobasilar synchondrosis. In other words they are all connected in a chain like effect from our skull down to our hips and all in between!

The remarkable thing is that despite this seeming like a quite complicated anatomical problem, especially for those with an understanding of physiology, this Core Distortion can be corrected in under a minute using energy healing therapies. No manipulation, not even any “hands on”, be it hips or skull or anywhere else, just simple running of energy into the alignment of the Sphenoid bone. The rest just follows!

The question “what treatment” or “approach” is the best for any individual is not only one of the most common questions I am asked but is also one I commonly ask myself! Every individual is different and not only in terms of their needs but more importantly their “make up” be it physical, mental, emotional or, even, spiritual, and thus while, as conventionally seen, it may appear that two people are similar eg both suffering from anxiety or poor sleeping patterns, in reality they may need quite different approaches to address their concerns.

It is also important to take into account whether the client has experience of “energy medicine” or whether this is the first time they have tried such an alternative approach. Energy therapy can be remarkably powerful and although ultimately the benefits are always positive it would not be unusual for someone to have a short term negative reaction (what is termed a “crisis of healing”) if one jumps in with some of the more powerful modalities on the first day. For some such a reaction is seen as positive i.e. a demonstration that something is working internally and at a deep “energy” level, while others are more comfortable taking a slower step by step approach that allows their bodies to more progressively become accustomed to the high vibrational healing energy generated during, and after sessions.

With that in mind, and assuming a client has no, or only limited, experience of this type of healing therapy, our approach is likely to follow the following progressions:

An introductory type Reiki session with modifications to address any specific underlying needs (physical or mental). We commonly also run some Quantum Touch energy as a compliment to the Reiki particularly where there are easily defined physical needs such as pain. The more specific treatments might include:

  • Simple Chakra clearing & balancing
  • Life force energy “charging”
  • Grounding & centring

A second session will build with a “stronger” Reiki treatment where the energy generated and received by the client can be significantly higher. Again this may be complimented by some Quantum Touch and / or Qigong or Zen Touch. Again treatments we might use, dependent on the requirements of the client might include:

  • Deep Chakra clearing and balancing
  • Emotional healing techniques
  • “Healing the baby and / or inner child”*
  • Energy detoxification
  • Core Distortion rectification**

Beyond this and depending on the client’s needs and desire to dig more deeply to uncover energy blockages we would start to look at more specific problem areas including:

  • Circuitry (physical – organs, glands, immune system etc and / or energy – individual chakras, meridians and other energy systems)
  • Energy considerations including emotional, post traumatic,”walls” / energy barriers, other negative energies.
  • Pathogen & toxicity issues
  • Structural issues including joints, muscles, nerves etc
  • Communication issues – between organs, glands and the various energy systems and the brain and / or spirit
  • Life Energy Field Healing
  • Aura cleaning and clearing

This work while inevitably a process of removing layers of problems over several sessions can have a very profound effect on emotional and physical health from the first session. It requires commitment on the part of the client to want to take consciousness of deeply held blockages in order that they can then be released and thus allow the body to start the healing process.

Perhaps the most important aspect of our philosophy at Curacion Mallorca revolves around the fundamental principle of self-help and empowerment. Our aim is to avoid dependence on us and our work by helping each person understand that each and every one of us has the power and capability to cure themselves of anything. We are not “special”, in terms of having “healing powers”, it is simply that we have chosen to tap into our long forgotten healing abilities to help others and illuminate the path of self-help.

The society in which we live, our education, our religions, our economic model all operate against the reality that everything we can wish for in life – happiness, peace and health, is within us and only we can access it!

Break free of the chains that have held back generations and return to your true essence, not as an individual human being, separate from all around you, but rather part of the whole, part of the universal intelligence that knows anything and everything!

Gounded and CentredIn this ever-changing and fast moving world, it is hardly surprising that so many of us sometimes feel lost or out of place and simply wonder “why?”, “what is all this?”, “where am I?”, “who am I?” and so on. While I may not be able to answer all of these questions for you, as every individual in reality needs a different answer (and that answer should come from “within”), what I would like to suggest is a short exercise that if done daily, will not only help you relax and prepare for the day but should also awaken your intuition and in this way open yourself to the answers to these questions in a way that is relevant to you.

By way of background and to get started let’s just review some basic ideas and concepts. First and foremost many of us will be aware of the importance of being in the “now” ie present here and now, not reliving old stories in our memory bank or worrying about future events, most of which will never occur anyway! One way of feeling the “now” is to ground yourself ie feeling the contact and connection with the ground and the earth in which we live ie “Mother Earth”. Many of us have may religious or spiritual beliefs that suggest that we are not just “physical beings” of flesh and blood walking around on the earth but also somehow connected to “God”, or the “Divine”, the “Universe” or however you might like to describe it. This may make us feel torn between the two when in reality there is no conflict between these realities and what we need to do is feel “centred” between these them rather than torn in two.

So how can be start to experiment and feel this dual reality of being here and now in this fast moving world while at the same time understanding the bigger picture, and realising that we are also an integral part of “everything” that exists, something that Eastern Cultures have taught for centuries and which modern science (Quantum Physics) is now “proving”!

You need to find about 10 minutes in the day when you know you won’t be disturbed, turn the phone off and relax (if you can do this first thing in the morning it provides a great start to the day and a reference point for the challenges the day might bring!!)

Grounding

Find a comfortable, but upright seat that supports and keeps your back straight. Gently close your eyes, take a few deep breaths in through your nose and breathing out through your mouth. If you can try to empty your mind of “chatter” then great but if thoughts come in don’t worry, just say “thank you” and release them. Don’t fight the thoughts or judge them, or indeed yourself!

Take your mind down to your feet (if possible you should be bare foot or at least without any shoes). Feel them in contact with the ground and feel anything else (tingling, energy etc). Now work your way up to your ankles and calves and up to your knees, again just taking consciousness of “feeling” that area of your body, whatever that may be for you (you may feel very little but the simple intention of focusing on that body part is sufficient).

Keep repeating this process for about 10 or 15 seconds per body part, in the following sequence – thighs / upper legs; pelvis / hips; abdominal / lower back area; chest and upper back; shoulders (keep them relaxed but feel them strong); your arms running down to your hands and fingers; and finally your neck and head. There is no right and wrong way of doing this, just use the intention of “feeling” / “being conscious” of each body part that follows a sequence from the bottom to the top!

With your intention on your head sweep that “feeling” / “consciousness” down through your body, this time from top down but in one sweep rather than stopping for each area, until you get to your feet. When you get to your feet rather than stopping there, imagine you are sweeping this sensation down into the ground via a network of roots that have magically grown out of your feet and deep down into the earth helping you to feel strong and secure. Repeat this a few times, sweeping from your head down to your feet and out through your roots (remember here we are not repeating the exercise of feeling the body parts on the way down we are just sweeping down and then returning to the top and sweeping down again.

Centring

Now imagine a line running down through the centre of your body, from the crown of your head down to between your legs (this is your Hara Line along which are strung your 7 main chakras or “energy centres” as per Indian philosophy). Move your attention to the centre of this line to where your heart lies and specifically your heart chakra. This is like a ball (imagine it as approximately the size of a tennis ball) that you need to imagine spinning effortlessly and harmoniously with the wider body and in perfect synchrony with the other chakras (again you may try to “feel” this or visualise it but above all it is the “intention” that matters!). Move down now to your solar plexus and your 3rd chakra and repeat the process, and then again to your 2nd chakra (just below the navel) and then root / 1st chakra between your legs. Each time spin the chakra and imagine this is effortless and that the energy is spinning out into every cell of your body and that each and every chakra is in perfect synchrony one with the other and with the body as a whole.

CentringNow we move up from the centre of the body (heart) to the 5th chakra in the throat, the 6th in the centre of your forehead and finally to the 7th on the crown of your head simply repeating what I describe for the other chakras.

With all 7 chakras spinning use your consciousness to feel “centred” in your heart and with this line of chakras all spinning in perfect harmony from the top of your head down to your “root”, between your legs. Just take a few moments to feel that “centering” feeling.

Now imagine that this line running through your body, the Hara line, extends down from between your legs down into the ground and into the “Mother Earth” into which you “grounded” yourself and placed your “roots”. At the same time extend the Hara Line up out of the top of your head it let it rise higher and higher up into the sky, through the earths atmosphere, into outer space and finally into the centre of the Universe, the point of “creation” or the source of “Divine Energy”, of “Life Force Energy” or however you like to see it. You are now perfectly linked and centred between “Mother Earth” and “Divinity” / the “Life Force Energy” (as I say feel free to use your own words that fit with your beliefs).

We are now going to take our consciousness into the etheric level or 4th dimension chakras (please note that the number and exact location of these will depend on who you speak to / what you read but I will be referring to the “13 chakra system” and with the 8th Chakra below the 1st some some 30cm below the feet)

Take your mind now to this 8th chakra, and again repeat what we were doing above – focusing attention and spinning the chakra with emphasis on peace harmony and synchrony between the chakras, the body and now, also, our “Aura” or “Energy Body” into which all our chakras are now spinning their energy. Repeat this for chakras 9 to 13 which are strung out, one above the other, approximately 30cm apart, above your head. When you have done this take a few seconds to feel and take consciousness of all your spinning chakras and the Life Force Energy that is filling both your physical body and “aura”. If it helps imagine this energy as a bright white light.

Energising and Clearing

Energised Aura & Chakra SystemNow take your attention to the “Divine Source” / the source of “Life Force Energy” I referred to above. Imagine / visualise this energy as bright light running down the Hara Line through your body and Aura and out via your feet and roots into the ground. As you do this do so with the intention that this bright light Life Force Energy is washing out any negative energies and blockages from the physical and “energy bodies”, leaving you perfectly clean, centered and grounded. Keep letting this cleaning energy flow through.

When you feel cleared take a moment to return to that space in the centre of your chest where the heart and heart chakra lies and just take a few moments to be in silence and very very quiet before repeating under your breath, three times, the words “I am”, “I am”, “I am”!

You may feel simply relaxed, or a sense of peace but whatever you feel is “right”!

Shielding

Just to finish and to be able to “hold” onto this state of inner peace and harmony, imagine a fine silvery net enveloping you and surrounding the outer part of your Aura so you are cocooned inside a protective shell. Feel or see the white bright “Life Force Energy” that was coming down your Hara Line filling this cocoon and have the intention that this shield (net combined with Life Force Energy) will fully protect you from all forms of negative energy, known or unknown, and that this shield is permanent. For comfort add the intention that while negative energies will not, and can not, penetrate this shield, the interchange of positive energy and particularly “universal love” will always be possible!

And that it is! Sounds longer than it actually is but in 10 minutes or even less you can do it all and, as I say, it is a perfect way to start the day!

If we all think carefully back to moments when we have helped others I am sure we will recall a warm feeling, a feeling of happiness that what we have done has made a difference to another. We just need to remember that feeling and perhaps try to do it a little more often!

As another saying goes…”just for today I will help someone else”. That isn’t so difficult is it? As the saying goes it is only for today! But don’t forget to say that every morning when you get up, that is when you will make a real difference and find true happiness!!!

Thought for the day!

I found this quote in my email inbox this morning, apparantly a prayer used by Alcoholics Anonymous:

“Lord, give me the courage to change the things which can and ought to be changed, the serenity to accept the things which cannot be changed and the wisdom to know the difference.”

Most of the those bad feelings we get in life come from the frustration of focusing on things outside of our direct influence.  We will never be able to instantly make situations we don’t like  go away or control the behaviour of others.

While we continue to focus on these things beyond our control is it surprising that we quickly end up feeling frustrated and angry?  There is only ever one thing over which we have total control and that is ourselves – our attitude to the situation and how we choose te react to it.

Don’t concentrate on the problem but rather the solution.  For those things that you cannot change, set some time aside each day to meditate on the fundamental importance of Acceptance  – learning to develop a state of acceptance and tolerance.

Acceptance is not the same as agreeing with something, being happy with a situation or even showing indifference, it is all about accepting that what has happened, has happened. You can’t change it so start by just accepting “what is” (being angry, frustrated, bitter or whatever won’t change what is!) Take a moment to pause and simply and silently “observe” both the situation and your initial reaction to the situation – your emotions etc. Will this reaction of yours change the situation? The answer is invariably no so from that moment you can then choose to find that point of inner calm that does not instantly “react” and where peace of mind and wisdom resides. A place where constructive and positive decisions can be taken rather than ego based “reactions”.
